Liability Statement for Connecting/Reconnecting Utilities Service
Lafayette Utilities System strongly advises that a disconnected customer awaiting connection/ reconnection takes safety precautions prior to reconnection.
Turn off your main circuit breaker to insure no heat-producing appliances that could contact flammable material are on during reconnection. If the main circuit breaker is not turned off, Lafayette Utilities System assumes no liability for damages resulting from the reconnection requested by the customer.
Examples of other safety precautions include insuring that electric stove tops, irons, or other heat-producing appliances that could contact flammable material are turned off prior to and during reconnection . The responsibility to insure such devices are turned off prior to and during reconnection is entirely that of the customer and Lafayette Utilities System assumes no liability for damages resulting from such appliances not being turned off prior to or during connection/reconnection.
