Share the Light with someone in need
When you add one dollar to your utility bill or sign a pledge card to give even more, the money you give goes to help someone in crisis pay his or her electric bill for one month. Call (337) 291-8280 to make a donation to Share the Light.

About LUS

Lafayette Utilities System has a long and proud history of serving the people of Lafayette. We are your next door neighbors and we care about the same things you do: reasonable utility rates and reliable, quality services that can protect our families and make our community better. LUS offers its customers quality electric, water and wastewater services. Because LUS is customer-owned and operated, its customers have the power to set rates and control the standard of service. We are always working to better LUS and Lafayette.

Publicly Owned and Operated

LUS employs more than 550 people and is a department of the Lafayette Consolidated Government. The main benefit the Lafayette community receives from owning its utility is having one of the lowest residential electric utility rates in the state. LUS is an integral part of our community. LUS earnings keep Lafayette taxes low. Approximately $22 million of in-lieu-of-tax (ILOT) is transferred to the Consolidated Government General Fund each year. This ILOT contribution supports services like police and fire protection, parks and recreation, and community development.

Lafayette Consolidated Government does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, income, gender, age, and disability in access to, or operation of its programs, services, activities or in its hiring or employment practices. Click here to review LCG's ADA and Title VI Plans.
