Energy Efficiency Tax Credits & Incentives

Federal

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 was signed into law by the President on August 8, 2005. The Act offers consumers and businesses federal tax credits beginning in January 2006 for purchasing fuel-efficient hybrid-electric vehicles and energy-efficient appliances and products. Most of these tax credits remain in effect through 2007. You must refer to the final Internal Revenue Service (IRS) rules to determine what qualifies for the tax credit.

Visit the following links for more information about the federal income tax incentives found in the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

State of Louisiana

The State of Louisiana offers several incentives designed to promote the efficient use of energy and natural resources. This includes the Home Energy Loan Program (HELP), the Home Energy Rebate Option (HERO) program, and a tax credit for alternative fuel vehicles.
